This rich, creamy, and probiotic-packed yogurt a truly delicious way to keep you healthy all year long.

The first time I made homemade yogurt I was a bit scared. I didn’t even have a candy thermometer, and I thought it was going to be way to complicated. But surprisingly, I found it to be incredibly easy!

This recipe will taste amazing with a little raw honey drizzled on top….. a few blended raspberries mixed in….. or some homemade crumbled granola. Try eating 2 cups every day in order to keep the beneficial bacteria in your system and keep your immune system strong.

Ingredients

Makes 1 Qt

* 1 Quart Whole Milk (Raw is best, otherwise organic)
* ¼ Cup high quality PLAIN yogurt (Stonyfield is a good brand) Or use yogurt from a previous batch
* Candy Thermometer (can be done without if necessary)

Directions

1. Warm milk over low heat until it is approximately 118 degrees (only warm to 110 if using Raw milk so you don’t kill all the good stuff the raw has to offer). Make sure to keep stirring the milk to avoid burns.

2. Remove from heat and let cool until it reaches approx. 110 degrees. This step is to make sure the heat won’t kill the beneficial bacteria you are about to add.

3. Gently hand mix in your yogurt starter with the warm milk.

4. Pour the mixture into a quart size glass jar or mason jars and close up tightly.

5. Prepare a warm place to store yogurt, I like to fill a cooler with hot (not above 110 degrees) water and set the jars inside. If necessary replace water if it gets too cool. Let sit for around 12 hours in the warm cooler then transfer your beautiful homemade probiotic filled yogurt to the fridge and enjoy!
